INDIANA BANKERS ASSOCIATION

Vice President of 

   Communications

January 2024 - Present

  • Guide the communications strategy of the Association, including branding, publications and media relations

  • Edit bimonthly Hoosier Banker magazine (print & digital), distributed to 7,300 members, journalists and politicians

  • Write articles for IBA publications, op-eds for external placement and scripts for the Association's three largest events

  • Review accuracy of onsite programs for the Association's three largest events (created by outside vendors), and create event programs from scratch for smaller events

  • Staff liaison for the Association's DEI Committee

  • Assist with executive communication and advocacy messaging as needed

  • Ran a successful RFP process resulting in new vendors that lowered publications expenses and created new revenue opportunities, resulting in a combined $30K swing toward net profitability

  • Clients served: Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior; Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors

  • Established a Spring Webinar Series that immediately became a significant revenue driver for the Society, as well as a video library of past webinars to drive revenue and make it easier for members to meet their CEU requirement to maintain their licenses

  • Created a 6 minute video plus a series of 30 second videos for ISPLS promoting the land surveying profession, explaining surveyors' contributions to society and the importance of the work they do

  • Tracked legislation of interest to ISPLS as it moved through the Indiana General Assembly, with weekly updates published on the ISPLS blog as well as a "halftime report" and full-session recap in the quarterly magazine

  • Staff liaison for the SNEB Board of Directors' Advisory Committee on Public Policy

  • Published monthly press releases promoting the featured article in SNEB's academic, peer-reviewed journal, the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, with coverage picked up by national and international media outlets including CNN, the BBC World Service and the Daily Mail

  • Edited a quarterly digital magazine for ISPLS using Adobe InDesign, plus e-newsletters for both clients and a weekly public policy update for SNEB using MailChimp

  • Marketed each client's Annual Conference and other member events

  • Management-level position overseeing all aspects of station’s online and digital presence, including work of another digital producer and all digital work submitted by broadcast staff

  • Managed stakeholder interests from digital, news, sales and promotions staff as head of station-wide Digital Committee

  • Led station through website redesign to increase visual appeal, simplify layout and better showcase top stories and fresh content

  • Created a web manual, including a style guide to unify content across all digital platforms

  • Established, presented and enforced digital strategy for the station, including posting requirements for entire newsroom, workflow for everyday situations as well as breaking news and severe weather, and tips to best use social media platforms’ specific, unique voices

  • Sought out and capitalized on opportunities to cross-promote on-air and digital products, including raw video of high-interest interviews and expanded coverage of special events and major stories

  • Produced fresh, new content for late-night newscast

  • Researched stories to add breakout and/or setup elements to showcase biggest stories of the night

  • Wrote web stories before the show teasing to new information inside my newscast then used newscast stories to push late night viewers back to the station’s website and social network presence
